A Midwest Airline is an American airline which is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Midwest Airline has an upper hand than the other airlines when it comes to providing services to the passengers. Midwest airlines started functioning from 1948 when its founder Kimberly-Clark started with providing transportation to the executive and other important officials of the companies. After making profit continuously for fourteen years, the Midwest Airline suffered a serious loss after the terrorist attacks on 11th September 2001. When started functioning, it was named as Midwest express till 2002 when its name was shortened to Midwest only by the airline itself. In the year 2002, company made another change by deciding to replace DC-9 Aircraft with Boeing 777 in order to save money on jet fuel.
In the year 2005, Midwest Airline made another innovated decision by announcing a new buy on board meal service for its customers. To fulfill this aim, chefs and other staff was hired from the renowned madders restaurant. In early 90s, Midwest airlines built their secondary bases at Kansas City International Airport where they are currently providing services 13 cities non-stop through out the country. For the level of services provided by the Midwest Airlines, they have won more awards in Conde Nast Traveler Magazine than any other airlines in United States. Due to the current increase in the rate of the fuel, Midwest Airlines have come across a decision to retire the remaining MD-80 jets after the peak summer season which are inefficient due to the consumption of the fuel and it is becoming economically infeasible to carry on with these types of jets for the airlines.
Some unfortunate accident has also occurred in the Midwest Airline history as first accident took place in 1985 when Midwest flight crashed upon takeoff from Milwaukee. In the late 2007, a Midwest airline was acquired by TPG capital and Northwest airlines by offering seventeen dollars per share. Air Tran Airways were also in the race of acquiring the Midwest Airlines but TPG capital and North West airways offered higher bid than the Air Tran Airways.
